Generating demand for evidence
3ie conducts workshops for developing country policymakers, designed to stoke interest in consumption of impact evaluations by decision makers. Engaging directly with policymakers and practitioners through training and speaking events not only provides practical and applied knowledge about impact evaluation but also strengthens the demand for evidence.
In 2011, 3ie conducted 21 demand-generation workshops from South Africa and Tunisia to the Philippines and the United States, reaching 1,253 policy makers, 521 of whom were from developing countries.
- 3ie organised a design clinic in partnership with the US NGO umbrella InterAction for 50 representatives from NGOs and US government agencies. As a result, InterAction is planning additional support activities to strengthen their members’ capacity to evaluate impact.
- 3ie is also partnering with the regional Centres for Learning on Evaluation and Results (CLEAR) to strengthen the capacity of countries and their governments to evaluate and share practical knowledge of what works what does not and why.
