Economics of programme spending

Value for money in international development programmes: using economics methods to justify programme and intervention spending

September 6, 2012

Speaker: Jacqueline Mallender, Chief Executive, Matrix Knowledge (TMKG Ltd)

Time: 5-6.30 pm; Venue: Manson Lecture Theatre, London school of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Keppel Street, London

The presentation included an introduction to relevant economic methods of the Campbell and Cochrane Economic Methods Group (role, purpose, membership and resources) and provided an overview of Evidence-Based Decisions and Economics, edited by CCEMG co-convenors Wiley-Blackwell, April 2010. The book covered a variety of methodological and conceptual issues associated with reviews of economics studies and the use of decision analytics in the fields of health, crime and justice, education and social welfare. The presentation contextualised this to issues particularly relevant for international development.
