UNICEF and WFP Global Impact Evaluation Forum 2024

The 2024 forum, hosted by UNICEF in partnership with WFP, carried forward the momentum from 2023 WFP event. It brought together participants from UNICEF, WFP, other United Nations agencies, governments, donors, non-governmental organizations, philanthropies and academia, who used the opportunity to showcase impact evidence from climate-prone and poly-crisis environments, learn from each other’s experiences and identify concrete areas of potential collaboration on impact evaluation. Evaluation in contexts of conflict and polycrisis

This panel will explored how impact evaluations (IEs) can be effectively conducted in conflict and polycrisis contexts, highlighting how they can drive operational and strategic shifts. Panelists will discuss the unique challenges and methodologies for conducting IEs in such environments, as well as focus on key findings, particularly around the impact on social cohesion.

Amplifying impact: harnessing the power of impact evaluations for evidence synthesis

This session will explore the transformative potential of evidence synthesis in enhancing impact evaluations and will reflect on the lessons learned over the past decade and discuss the challenges and opportunities of using evidence synthesis to address global challenges. Speakers will share examples of synthesis tools that both support dissemination of findings and inform future research agendas. The goal is to foster collaboration and innovation to better meet the growing demand for evidence to improve global development interventions.

Impact evaluation in the policy cycle

The goal of this session is to bring together impact evaluation users and producers to connect and discuss how to better integrate the evidence produced by impact evaluations into the decision-making process. More so, it will look at how to make impact evaluation an integral part of the policy cycle that is essential to scaling up programming, especially now, when the world is increasingly fragile and resources are limited.
