Using qualitative evidence to inform decisions in the SDG era

3ie staff participated in the first-of-its kind symposium on using qualitative evidence to inform decisions in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) era. This event aimed to advance conversations and collaborations on innovative ways of using qualitative evidence to broaden and humanise decision and policy-making processes to achieve the SDGs. Participants also explored tools and methods needed to support the translation of qualitative evidence into policy and practice.

3ie’s Anca Dumitrescu and Douglas Glandon presented on using qualitative evidence in impact evaluations. They reviewed the fundamentals of impact evaluation and causal inference, and presented examples of using qualitative evidence to enhance insights, inferences, and transferability of impact evaluations.
