Interventions to promote social cohesion in Sub-Saharan Africa
3ie Systematic Review 02
Elisabeth King, Cyrus Samii and Birte Snilstveit
The relationship between social cohesion and a range of social, economic and political developments outcomes have received increased attention in recent decades. This review by Elisabeth King et al. finds that only for one measure of trust in community members is there a replicated positive effect of community driven development interventions. In a measure of inter-group relations, there is a replicated negative effect. Other outcome estimates are too heterogeneous to allow for general conclusions.
