Encouraging HIV testing among truck drivers in Kenya
In African countries, men are less likely to test for HIV than women and truck drivers have even lower testing rates, despite being at high risk of contracting the virus.
This brief outlines the findings of an impact evaluation by Kelvin and colleagues on the effectiveness of offering Kenyan truck drivers the choice of administering self-test at a clinic or at home, together with in-person or phone-based counselling to encourage testing.
