Neelakshi has over 20 years of experience in the development sector . She has worked closely with policy-makers, Parliamentarians in India to inform decision-making around key national programs including the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). She designed the Ministry of Rural Development’s, Government of India's first independent evaluation network for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
Prior to joining 3ie she worked as Project Director at IPE Global where she led a pilot project with the State Government of Rajasthan to test the impact of providing skilling and employment for adolescent girls on increasing their agency and reducing the incidence of early marriage.
She has also worked with other Government agencies including USAID, GIZ and non- government implementation agencies like the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust, on achieving gender equitable empowerment through women self-help-groups. Her sector areas of focus include gender and livelihoods, social security and health.
Neelakshi holds a master's degree in Public Policy from Duke University, USA and a master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Delhi, India.
