Maren Duvendack
Maren Duvendack is a 3ie senior research fellow with 15 years of expertise in development economics. Her work focuses on applied micro-econometrics, impact evaluation, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, microfinance as well as replication and reproduction of quantitative analyses. She is particularly interested in the link between microfinance, women’s empowerment and reproductive health.
She is currently a Professor of Evaluation in Economics in the School of Global Development at the University of East Anglia focusing on the MSc Impact Evaluation for Global Development program. Maren worked with the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington, DC and the Overseas Development Institute in London. More recently, she conducted quantitative impact evaluations for IFAD, DFAT, the World Food Programme and the Gates Foundation on a range of themes across South Asia and East Africa.
She holds a PhD in development economics from the University of East Anglia, UK. She is the author of a range of peer-reviewed academic publications and several Campbell systematic reviews (including a systematic review of systematic reviews) on microfinance, payments-by-results as well as on the link between government policies and income inequalities.
