Sexual and reproductive health and rights in L&MICs- an Evidence Gap Map

To understand the extent of the evidence on SRHR and inform decision-making, 3ie developed an evidence gap map (EGM). This EGM was commissioned by the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval) with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Co-Impact, to explore the state of the evidence base on SRHR and to inform upcoming impact evaluations. 3ie’s SRHR EGM aims to inform policy and practice in a domain that has witnessed an increasing body of evidence but remains scattered across different databases, websites and journals. The map pulls together more than 1,000 studies, including impact evaluations, systematic reviews and selected qualitative methods studies, looking at a broad range of SRHR interventions and outcomes across multiple populations in L&MICs and regions.

The webinar will discuss existing evidence and evidence gaps about interventions to support family planning, maternal and newborn care, sexual and reproductive health and choice, addressing gender-based violence, and access to SRHR information and services in L&MICs. This webinar will focus primarily on the findings from the 3ie SRHR EGM. The EGM finds a significant and growing evidence base from which decision-makers can draw. However, the EGM also finds a lack of studies focused on populations in vulnerable and marginalized situations and in emergency, humanitarian and crisis settings.
