Alison Mildon is a public health nutrition practitioner and researcher based in Toronto, Canada. She has over twenty years of population health experience supporting the development and implementation of evidence-based programmes and policies to improve maternal and child nutrition and health outcomes in a variety of countries. Alison is a Registered Dietitian and received her Masters and PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto.

In 2019, 269 million children under five, 32 million pregnant women, and over half a billion women of reproductive age were reported to be affected by anaemia. The condition causes adverse health outcomes, delayed cognitive and physical development in children, and reduced productivity which may lead to economic losses
