Although there have been successes in implementing an early infant diagnosis of HIV programme in Zimbabwe, challenges remain in linking mother-infant pairs to HIV testing, counselling and treatment services.
This report evaluates the impact of an intervention implemented by the Clinton Health Access Initiative to integrate early infant diagnosis of HIV into routine Expanded Programme of Immunisation services on infant HIV testing, test result turnaround time, time for treatment initiation for positive infants and on the volume of those services.
