Spotlight | Launch of a systematic review on women's empowerment and gender equality in fragile contexts | New blogs | Upcoming events and many more. In 2020, 23 per cent of the world’s population lived in fragile contexts of which at least half were women. In these contexts, women and girls remain particularly vulnerable to exploitation and existing social, economic and political inequalities are exacerbated. While there are several interventions aimed at improving women’s status, understanding what approaches work can inform future investments and programming.

Development Priorities Evidence Program

Launched in 2015, this program focused on generating evidence in priority sectors closely aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals. 3ie supported 14 rigorous, high-quality impact evaluations in four sectors: environment, governance, infrastructure and public finance. UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (formerly DFID) funded this work.
