Evidence gap maps
A summary of evidence on independent media and free flow of information
Evidence gap map summary report, 2022
The authors of this report summarize the findings of an evidence gap map of studies on interventions that aim to strengthen independent media. The map on which this report is based contains one systematic review and 93 impact evaluations. The evidence’s characteristics are described and mapped according to a framework of 26 interventions and 28 outcomes, with 5 cross-cutting themes. This map was commissioned by USAID's Center for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance.
To facilitate the use of this map and report, we have also developed a practitioner brief on studies that look at the effect of disseminating information through media.
