Setting up women’s collective enterprises in rural India: Learnings from 3ie’s Swashakt program

The authors of this paper synthesise findings from four process evaluations of programs that support collective and group-based models for women-led businesses in India. 3ie led three evaluations of projects implemented by ACCESS Development Services, URMUL Trust, and Chitrika Foundation, and IDinsight led an evaluation of a program implemented by IMAGO Global Grassroots and Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA).

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation commissioned this study as part of 3ie’s Swashakt: Empowering Women’s Collectives program.
