The authors of this working paper synthesize learnings from the five pilot projects that were implemented in the states of Bihar, Gujarat, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. The projects supported collective-based businesses focused on retail and the production of farm-based inputs, farm-based value-added products, and non-farm products. The Gates Foundation commissioned this study as part of 3ie’s Swashakt: Empowering Women’s Collectives program.
