Making evidence accessible

The authors systematically identified, mapped, and summarized the evidence base of interventions that aim to strengthen good governance through governance effectiveness. The evidence gap map contains 19 systematic reviews and 485 impact evaluations. The characteristics of the evidence are described and mapped according to a framework of 20 interventions and 28 outcomes. This map was commissioned by USAID’s Center for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance.

The authors of this study identified, mapped, and summarized the evidence base for interventions that seek to enhance political competition through elections. The evidence gap map this report is based on includes 188 impact evaluations, four qualitative evaluations, and two systematic reviews. Studies were found for 57 nations, mainly evaluating national-level, public institution-implemented interventions that targeted all people and voters in electoral democracy situations. This map was commissioned by USAID's Center for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance.

Authors of this brief highlight research findings and observations from five studies on interventions to prevent human rights violations, protect victims and human rights defenders and respond to human rights abuses by combatting trafficking in persons (C-TIP). These studies are included in an evidence gap map on human rights interventions commissioned by USAID's Center for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance.

The authors of this rapid review brief examine the evidence on interventions that look at the effects of improving the quality of drinking water on reducing the recurrence of water-borne diseases and improving nutrition.
